Running a successful home business is the dream for many people today. Whether you want to spend more time with the kids, make a few bucks while you’re home anyway, escape your boss, or simply stop wasting time in the daily commute, a home based network marketing business can be the top work at home plan.

The quit rate in network marketing or MLM businesses is huge. Around 90% of new recruits will drop out. This gives MLM a bad reputation. But did you know that the quit rate for any other type of self employment business is just as high?
The problem is not the fact that it is MLM. It is tough setting up any kind of home business. And the main difficulty that most people have can be summed up in one word:
Focus.
Distractions, interruptions, lack of motivation, spending too much time on unproductive tasks … working from home with no boss hanging over us, we all suffer from some if not all of these issues. They all lead to bad time management and lack of focus, which means less money coming in.
The worst thing we can do is constantly switch from one task to another during the day. Every time we transfer our focus to a new task, we spend time getting into the ‘zone’ of the new task. Recent research claims that it can take up to 20 minutes to get fully into the zone of whatever we are doing. Only then are we really focused on the task and able to work most effectively.
Sure, have plenty of breaks. Take 5 or 10 minutes to stretch, relax, fetch a glass of water. But do not watch TV or start reading something. bring a notebook so you can write down ideas that come to you during your break.
Set a schedule and stick to it, without distractions and interruptions. Give all your attention to the most important task that you have to do that day, and do not start any other work until it is completed. Or for longer projects, allocate certain times each day for that task, and catch up with your email, calls etc in the rest of the time. But however you do it, keep your focus through all of your working time.
