PostHeaderIcon The Joys of the Home Water Cooler

The words Water Cooler carries with it many associations. Most people would picture the classic bottled model which has an upturned blue plastic bottle sitting ontop of a plastic water dispenser with two taps- one blue one red. Similarly, when picturing this water cooler in the minds eye, many of us would conjour up images of dentists waiting rooms (dentists are all in favour of water coolers) or an open plan office complete with plants and coffee table. This would be a fair enough summation of how the water cooler features in our daily lives, but perhaps now it’s time to shake off these sterotypes and think outside the proverbial box.

Water coolers also have a very real place in the home as well as an office environment. They are at the cutting edge of contemporary interior design, lending a thoroughly modern and quirky look to any domestic space. In fact, I know a couple who have taken to having a water cooler in their bedroom, so that at any hour of the night they can quench their thirst satisfactorily. I can imagine this being very useful in the event of a heavy nights drinking! Everyone always advises drinking a pint of water before bedtime to avoid any unneccessary hangover come the morning, and the water cooler offers a very convenient way of ensuring that you take this step.

There are many advantages of having a water cooler at home. The first is that it works out a lot cheaper than constantly buying smaller bottles of water from the supermarket, it also saves you having to lug these bottles about, which would appeal to any sane person. the other advantage is that you know where your water has come from and you have the added assurance that it was bottled very recently. Finally the bottled water cooler is surprisingly environmentally friendly, as the water delivery company collects the bottles after use, cleans them industrially, and then re-uses them. You can’t say fairer than that!
