Simple, but proven Web 2.0 strategies for your Home Internet Based Business Opportunity
Using social media or Web 2.0 platforms is great way to direct visitors to your website and grow your free online business. These sites are very popular and allow you to touch a massive number of people in a very short amount of time. Social media is a very cost-efficient method to generate traffic to your website. Social media sites include blogs, video and audio multimedia like podcasts, social bookmarking and tagging sites. The purpose of this article is to show a proven strategy that can attract new and repeat visitors to your website. We will use the following Web 2.0 sites:
YouTube,
Hubpages.com
WordPress.com,
Technorati.com
Yahoo Geocities
Zimbio
Although we will only review the above social media platforms, keep in mind that there are thousands of Web 2.0 sites. It is strongly recommended that as you use this strategy to promote additional sites, change which sites you use and even add more.
One of the biggest challenges with this Social Media strategy is the time it takes to create accounts at each of the platforms. This initialization phase is critical because each account you create must appear to be valid and authentic. Remember, you’re trying to establish expertise while you promote your websites. You shouldn’t spam. This process takes time, but it works. As you promote your sites, you’ll find that it gets easier as you learn to navigate each Web 2.0 platform.
The overall goal with this Web 2.0 strategy is to promote yourself in each “social community.” You want to seek acceptance within a particular niche of the Social Network. Be careful not to spam any of these sites, otherwise your efforts will be wasted. If you can become an accepted member of the “social network” then as you build your reputation, you may be considered an expert.
Before you even start this process, you’ll need to develop some quality pages on your website that you will promote. I recommend the following 3 quality pages.
1) “Link Bait” Page – this is a unique page on your blog or website that should be promoted within your niche because it’s a great resource. The content of this link bait page is informative and reinforces your site’s expertise, so other’s will link to it. The link bait page will help create “buzz” within your niche and drive traffic to your site. Promote one of the keywords identified in your market research.
2) Index or Home Page – very important to promote a high traffic “Power Keyword” phrase that you identified in your niche research.
3) PreSales or Sales Page(s) – These pages will contain your second, third and fourth level keywords. You may have heard of these keywords being referred to as “long tail.” This is because they focus on a specific product or service. If you’ve done your promotion the correct way (PPC or SEO), visitors who land on your pre or sales page are buyers. They know what they want and they’ve likely found your page through search with a long tail keyword.
Once you have these 3 pages “live,” you can start to promote them using our Web 2.0 strategy.
First, you’ll have to develop new and unique content that you can use to submit on these Web 2.0 platforms for your target market. Your social media marketing plan must include quality content throughout the network of sites to which you post. I recommend developing at least 10 unique 400+ word articles. Much like SEO for your blog or website, you should optimize your site for social media. Remember that these Web 2.0 sites are crawled frequently by search engines. There’s a good chance your content on these pages will be initially be visited more often than the blog or website that you’re promoting. As you develop your unique content, always include links and RSS to your website. This is most efficient way to grow your online business. In some steps you will include links and RSS to some of the social media sites with which you have previously submitted content. Instead of simply promoting your home, main or index page, you should promote three different pages on your site.
Make a Video that markets your Link Bait Page and post it on YouTube.
This short video should relate to or reviews the content of your link bait page. Keep the video to 2 – 3 minutes. Video sites are highly visited. YouTube is becoming the new Google. People use YouTube as a “how to” site. A short video can give viewers a quick “taste” of the resources available on your website. You can also use your video to show your expertise. Whether your niche is health and fitness, home and garden, travel or even financial, your video could be a slide show where you speak of about main points on your resource page. Just remember, don’t make your video too long.
With all the written content you submit, make certain that you have the correct links. Also, it’s smart to ensure you include your links in the top portion of the content, before the fold. This ensures that when visitors look at your page with their browser and before they scroll down at all, the most important content, including the links that they see are above the fold.
Create a New Account At Hubpages.com – create unique content, but be very careful not to only add your link once in the article. Just as with Squidoo, your link should be to your link bait page and should be the keyword your trying to promote. Be careful with your content on Hubpages, they will not accept your post if it appears to “spammy” or if you appear to be simply promoting your website. Although I’ve struggled with Hubpages, it’s content is well regarded by the search engines.
Create An Account At WordPress.com – similar to Blogger.com, Wordpress.com is a way to host a blog for free. Create a unique domain that includes the primary keyword you’re promoting. Like the other social media sites, make some posts that link back to your blog’s link bait page.
Claim Your blog home page At Technorati.com – You should also claim your Blogger.com, WordPress.com blogs plus, promote your squiddo lense and hubpages post. This helps generate traffic to any of the sites where you are promoting yourself.
Create A Geocities Yahoo 360 Blog – add some unique content and link back to your link bait page with the primary keyword you’re attempting to promote.
Create An Account At Zimbio – although this is simply an RSS feed aggregator, it’s a powerful tool. I have tracked some nice traffic coming from Zimbio which really helped to grow my home internet based business opportunity. You want to submit RSS feeds to zimbio from your main site in addition to RSS feeds from your Gather, Squidoo, Hubpages, Blogger, WordPress and Yahoo accounts. When you sign up for a Zimbio account, you’ll get some code that can place on your blog or website.
Though it takes time and effort, utilizing social media can effectively reap benefits for your online business such as higher search engine rankings and increased website traffic. In order for your plan to really work, you must make a sincere effort to interact with your network of like-minded people (who are your desired target consumers). Think of social media as a co-op. You’ll get what you put in to it and possibly more if you’re content and interaction are strong.
