A lot of people I speak with about Internet Marketing, Affiliate Marketing etc. cringe with the thought of ppc search engine marketing. Even people that have been in the business a long time struggling to drive traffic using Search Engine Optimization methods are “scared of ppc” or “can’t be bothered with the learning curve”. Without natural or paid traffic, after all, you’ve got nothing, except perhaps friends and family visiting your sites giving pity clicks on your AdSense ads.
Among the many concerns people have to tackle PPC are Google slaps, losing a bunch of money, click fraud, etc. Sure, all of the scenarios mentioned above can (and sometimes do) happen, but there is a way to get used to PPC with very little risk. It’s easier than you might think. Once you know the ropes and understand the process it will be less daunting of a task to jump in the water and pull in the rewards that the big boys (and girls) are pulling in, because we all know Google brings in the lion share of traffic. But you don’t have to start there!
I started dabbling with PPC when Yahoo was still outsourcing their paid search services to Overture. I did fairly well actually but didn’t really know the ins and outs of it. I didn’t really have a full understanding of the big picture. Not really knowing what a “landing page” or what “direct linking” was at the time, those are the 2 methods I used when advertising with Overture. I noticed that running my ad for a few weeks on Overture would shoot my site up in the natural search listings on other search engines. Things have changed drastically since then as some of you know.
Expecting to become a millionaire with very little work in the 3 short months I was “making money online”, and failing, I decided to give up on Internet Marketing for awhile. Yeah, I had unrealistic expectations. Besides, I was making great money in a side home business selling and repairing computers, plus I had a tech job at the local hospital taking 40-50 hours a week of my time.
Well, after a year or two I decided to get back into the game and started anew but this time with Google PPC. I had a money yo-yo. I lost some, I made some. All I really lost was a bunch of time because I had pretty much broke even. I realized the landscape had officially changed. I decided to broaden my horizons a bit and look at other ways to make money online.
Fast forward to now. I have many eggs in many baskets. PPC marketing still brings in a significant portion of my income. I’ve tried many different programs, many different PPC engines and by far, the easiest and cheapest way to get started and gain experience is using the 7 Search pay per click network. Since I’ve been using 7Search (and profiting) I have read a few stories from “gurus” with negative thing to say about it. I’m certain they are trying to trick people to stay away so they could keep the cheap traffic for themselves. They are paying just a penny a click for targeted traffic after all! They’re going to hate me for revealing the secret.
7Search offers a very simplistic (but flexible) campaign structure. I like it better than the way Google, MSN and Yahoo have theirs setup. There are no Ad Groups with 7Search. You simply have campaigns with keywords and ads in it. And you have the ability to customize the keywords extensively. You can add a custom Ad Title, Ad Description, Bid and Destination URL in your keyword string. Or, of course, you can just drop in a keyword and use the default ad.
There is lots of untapped opportunity on 7Search. There are still high traffic keywords that have zero competition! You can truly pay just a penny a click for some great keywords.
A really cool thing is that you can send the traffic to one page static sites. You don’t need all of the extra pages (contact, about, etc) that is expected in Google in an effort to get a decent Quality Score.
And you can only bid on keywords that they have seen searches for. If you try to add a keyword and they have never seen traffic for that particular keyword, you can’t add it, simple as that. You also get great stats for keywords… estimated searches, estimated clicks and the bid amounts for the top 3 positions. Learn more 7Search PPC tricks and see how you can get started for just $25.
