PostHeaderIcon Innovative Branding: The Custom USB Drive

Incorporating a custom USB drive into your marketing plan can help brand your small business in a creative way and show you’re a company that likes to think outside the box.

Baseball hats, T-shirts, pens, and coffee mugs with your small business’ logo and tagline printed on them are worse than just boring: they are odious. Your company is better than that! It is younger than that, hipper than that, and more innovative than that. Don’t waste your time trying to solidify your branding and reaching your potential customer base by doing the same old marketing gimmicks. Instead, think outside the box and instead offer a custom USB drive as a promotional tool to get your business noticed and send the right message.

A custom USB drive makes a great marketing tool because it is something that your current clients and potential clients can actually use in their daily lives. USB drives are small storage devices that click into the USB port that is standard on all modern computers. They are a great way to back up files or transport them quickly and easily. You can put music, documents, spreadsheets, even pictures on these little devices, and to access them or move them all you need to do is place the USB drive into another computer’s USB port.

USB drives are incredibly lightweight and small and are typically kept on a keychain or lanyard. Think about the exposure your brand can get from just having a few local businessmen walking around, transferring and backing up files with your logo across their storage device. That is going to get your name out there in a much bigger way than a cheesy phrase on a coffee mug shoved in a bottom drawer will!

Designing and ordering a customized USB drive for your brand is exceptionally easy. All you need to do is log onto the manufacturer’s website, follow the design wizard, upload your logo and decide on the text you want displayed across the flat side of the device. Typical options you can consider when putting together your design include color of the case, material the case is made out of, and amount of storage space available on the drive. Wood, metal, and plastic are the most common choices for the material, with plastic being the most cost effective. A typical size capacity for a USB drive is around one gigabyte, but some of the most expensive options include several gigabytes. It is not recommended you order a customized USB drive with less than one gigabyte of space as any less will be too small to include any real data.

In this tough economy, you need to do everything you can to not only stay in front of your customers but stay one step ahead of your competition. And with severely-slashed budgets and more cautious consumer spending, competition is fierce. The small business world is now an exercise in the survival of the fittest, and something that will keep your company competing is having a promotional item that will help you stand out among the rest. A custom USB drive says that you are thinking about what your clients need and want, not just about your own bottom line or your own promotion. That is the kind of message that speaks loudly to clients and will help you do more than just weather these challenging financial times, it will help you flourish in spite of them.
