Not all of your network marketing business’s customers or enrollees are equal, nor should you treat all of your customers or enrollees equally when marketing to or supporting/mentoring/training them.
I’m certainly not talking about your customers or enrollees as people, nor am I suggesting that you should ever be anything less than the epitome of courtesy and professionalism when working with everyone you meet. With that said, the truth is your customers and enrollees are not all created equal. Think about it and you’ll soon realize that you have several different groups or categories of customers and enrollees. Each of these categories needs a specialized approach in terms of the type and amount of effort you put into marketing, training, and support.
For example, you may have regulars who frequent your network marketing business and know you and your employees by name. You may have enrollees who are serious about showing your network marketing business opportunity and expanding their organizations. These are your most valuable customers and enrollees because they provide a steady income stream. Even more importantly, they can be your loudest and most ardent advocates. Pull out all the stops to make these people feel welcome. These great people probably know other similar people who would do just as good a job… so invite them to bring their friends and give them plenty of incentive for doing so. Make absolutely every effort to keep these excellent customers and top producers happy and coming back for more.
Next are repeat customers who aren’t quite regulars, or associates who are working their network marketing businesses but who aren’t totally committed to them. These are the people you want to give special training to or alert to special sales, promotions, or new product or business opportunities that they may be interested in. In short, give them a reason to come back. If you track customer and enrollee activity (you do, don’t you?) then you will know exactly who to approach with which offer so as to maximize their chances of saying yes. Target your efforts as narrowly as possible to get the most from what you do. This group is typically marketed to and supported less often and for more specific reasons and events than your true regulars.
Your next group consists of people who buy from you once or only occasionally, or enrollees who are not actively growing their network marketing businesses. Your best bet here is to maintain periodic contact with this group but don’t go to the time or trouble of making regular efforts.
Last come the people who have never purchased from you or enrolled in your network marketing business opportunity. Keep up your regular marketing efforts and remember to use innovative methods while planning for the long haul.
Placing your customers and enrollees into distinctive groups lets you invest your efforts where you will get the greatest return while never ignoring anybody. Carefully targeting your marketing and training to your various audiences will save you time and money while giving each group what they need to get the best results.
Avoid the temptation to lump all of your customers or enrollees together. Do that and you’ll end up investing far too much on one-time or occasional people who probably make up the majority of your customer and enrollee base. In other words, you’ll be expending maximum effort and resources for minimum return. A single strategy for everyone also does a huge disservice to the people who could really take you far. In other words, you’ll be bypassing the people most likely to provide a return on your investment of time and energy.
Invest a little effort into categorizing your customers and enrollees and devising a custom strategy for each group… and watch your network marketing profits soar!
