Talented employee leave despite a top salary

 – Lazy ones not

Turnover is extremely expensive for organizations and become even more complex for the organization to hire and train a person. The major reasons the people leave the company for better pay, better profile better perks, better training etc

But deeply think and note it is if you’re losing good people, it is because of their immediate supervisor / Manager. Thus turnover is mostly manager issue. . And yet, bad bosses are always there for good people everywhere. Managers forget that employees are not machinery to do work continuously

When people are badly managed, there can be unhappiness work environment, reduced efficiency and high turnover among employees. When they resign, they often leave m heartless managers, not necessarily the organisation

After a certain point, an employee’s primary need has less to do with money, and
more they expect is how they are treated in their organisation. Much of this
depends directly on the immediate manager. Almost 80% of employees are affected by worst managers. The bosses just do not care whether their subordinates are happy or otherwise

Why talented employees leave organizations:

When you feel that the present organisation is not satisfying your Wants, then you try to search some other sources that can satisfy your wants. Most employees leave their work for reasons other than money – and your organization can correct these reasons. Most leaving employees seek opportunities that allow them to use and develop their skills. Leaving employees want more meaning in their work. They often indicate that they want to use their qualities and skills in challenging teamwork led by capable leaders.

ü  Mismatch of job.

ü  lack of Training & career planning

ü  Unreasonable work hours

ü  Lack of appreciation

ü  Frustration.

ü  poor relation with boss

ü  lack of future scope

ü  limited scope for progress

ü  lack of promotion opportunity

ü  I don’t  feel good around here

ü  Poor implementation of performance appraisal system

ü  high expectation of the employee

ü  better job else where

ü  Long Distance

ü  decisions could no longer be taken at a local level

ü  The company wouldn’t miss me if I go

ü  Entrepreneurship/ self employment etc

So there are numerous reasons for leaving an organisation where the above reasons are 20% but mostly they take decision because of their manager’s attitude and behavior.

Reasons to stick an organisation:

  • Who don’t like change
  • Who have very limited competence
  • Who don’t want challenges
  • Who don’t want change
  • Who are overpaid against their competency
  • Who is very close to the boss
  • Who is give unnecessary power
  • Who cannot face competition
  • Who cannot oppose their boss and say yes for everything
  • Who cannot survive in the job market
  • Who lack in confidence
  • Who lack in language

Thus all the managers must have wisdom rather than talking about knowledge. Managers must follow the following factors to maintain their employees.

v  Maintain cordial relationship with employees

v  Must show some care about employees

v  Define their role clearly

v  Give positive feedback

v  Proper recognition and reward to be given in time

v  Don’t overload your employee

v  A Friday pizza party

v  A free talk with them to reduce their stress

Steps in leaving the job:

A bad manager is possibly the worst reason for leaving the job. Experts say that bad boss is most intolerable.

First Incident             – The manager’s bad behavior kept in their mind

Second incident         -If the same behavior repeats the crunch is nailed in their heart

Third incident            – Intolerable they backtalk at their manager

Fourth Incident         – Employee keeps quiet but applies elsewhere aggressively

Fifth incident             -they don’t reply any questions of their manager and avoids him.

Sixthly                        – He quits his job by giving some lame excuses.

But the employer will not know why their employees are continuously leaving and the ultimate looser is the owner. Thus the boss must concentrate more on good selection of competent managers

While employed employees can be reluctant to criticize their managers for fear of the consequences, they can however they can be surveyed during exit survey. But adopting exit surveys many not prevent individuals from leaving it will help bring to causes of the problems of the boss. They will at the very least provide good records that could prove very valuable later, at best they will provide management with information that can help improve an organization spiritually and with the bottom line of the root cause of their turnout.

Thus the boss has to take much care in recruiting proper managers who will properly guide their employees which will satisfy the employee in turn will help the manger to achieve the goals of the organisation. Employee will not simply leave organisation, they are mostly induced by the managers to leave which is a loss to the boss. Thus to avoid this manager must cooperate with coping with his employers.
