We have been hit hard in this economy and are now ina recession that has not been seen in many, many years. The affect it has is all over] from the wealthiest communities to the already the past many communities have had to make cuts tomaintain their budgets and this has affectedthe schools. Now it is even worse with cutbacks on staff and even shutting down schools and combining students is happening more than ever. Because of this, schools are using the smallest amount of physical items to offer to their students. Many teachers are spending their own small paycheck to purchase supplies for their students and the parents are being hit hard by huge] supply lists that their kidsneed to buy at the start of school. ways to deal with theincreasing expenses of sending your kid to school each year such as going to a store that sell text books and buy text books that are used as well as buying supplies in bulk and splitting them with a friend.
Many AmericansSeveral people have to now budget a huge amount of money to purchase school supplies for their children that used to be given to them by the school and the school districts. Due to budget cuts and the struggling economy this is now a reality that people have to face. Many required items add up to more than $100 per child at the beginning of the school year and are notjust items that they will use but itemssuch as Kleenex and wipes and dry erase markers for the classroom too. What can we do to cut these costs?
Onegood solution is to begin searching for sales throughout the summer and purchasing things you know will be on the list such as paper, folders and pencils. By spending money over three months it will nothit you so hard all at once at the start of school. Anotheridea is to go to a big warehouse store where you can buy supplies in bulk then splitit with some friends. Purchasing in bulk always savesmoney. You may choose not to take your younger child with you to pick out a lot of the things because they will see all of the items with their favorite characters on them and want those rather than the more inexpensive things. Many parents cave in to theirchildren and buy more than if they had just goneby themselves.
An additional suggestion is to have a party with all of your friends to exchange gently used items from yourchildren and swap. This can be for backpacks, lunch boxes, clothing, shoes and some notebooks that werenot used that much. This way yourchildren get something “new” to them but it costs youno money. The greater amount of people you can getover for your back to school swap, thebetter. All of these tips can assist you to save on your expenses but still get your child the things that they need for thebeginning of the school year.
